The CGIE Authentication Portal is a SAML based Identity Provider (IdP) and working as a Single Sign-On service (SSO).
SAML (Security Assertion Markup Language) is an open standard for exchanging authentication and authorization data between parties, in particular, between an identity provider and a service provider. As its name implies, SAML is an XML-based markup language for security assertions (statements that service providers use to make access-control decisions). (Security Assertion Markup Language, 2018)
The portal is used for internal applications, but also for third-party applications and published as IdP on eduID.lu (www.eduid.lu).
Users (students, teachers and staff) with a valid CGIE IAM account can authenticate via the CGIE Authentication Portal.
All new service providers must be configured on the IdP after an application request. Please ask for our request form at firstname.lastname@example.org.
